On one of our days at LaMaria, the birders made a long road trip to the other side of Volcán Nevado de Colima. Pat did some birding then drove with one of the Dons to the end of the road in the Parque Nationale, at 12,268' elevation. Given the altitude, she wasn't up for an additional 2km 1,000' hike from the road end up to some microondas (radio towers) to get a close up view of Volcán Fuego. She took this shot of Volcán Nevado from the Parque road.

This car trip involved 125 slow road miles to get to and from a spot only 10 crow miles away from the campground.
