We were at LaMaria for 10 nights. One day we carpooled to Comala, stopping in the village of Suchitlán. This is a house on shady street in Suchitlán.

The birding here was outstanding. Aside from birds, Colima has bustling towns, generally good roads, fertile agricultural lands, lush growth, and mostly well-fed animals. On some previous parts of our trip we had seen vultures feeding on newly dead carcasses. Hard to tell if those beasts died of starvation or disease, but in some places the cows, horses, and dogs we had seen looked pretty wasted. Some of the people, too.

We felt incredibly fortunate and well off.
