While at San Blas, Pat started to take a few days off birding to hang onto the rest of her life. One of the trips she did go on was to the little village (pop: 55) of Singayata, in an agricultural area. The birding was excellent along an old farm road.

The villagers have evidently worked hard to restore some of the damaged ecology. We found this sign by the road side which we translated as follows:

"When all the trees are dead, the animals and fish destroyed, and the water cannot be drunk, perhaps then will we learn that we cannot eat money."

An important message for humanity.
