        To round out this boat trio, here's a fishing boat we saw near Ketchikan. Alaska's forward looking consitution prohibits fish farming, and that state's efforts focus instead on hatchery programs to increase wild stocks.

        Commercial fishing is a vital part of everyday Alaskan life, and the state leads the way in trying to ensure its fish and shellfish stocks remain commercially viable.
