On Campbell Island we passed Bella Bella (population 1,400.) Summer ferry service to a few central coast communities is based in Bella Bella. In the winter, the ferry we were on stops here.

Bella Bella is home to the Heiltsuk Native Band and is the largest community on the Central Coast of BC with the only hospital and pharmacy. Air transportation connects the town to Vancouver. Nothing remains of the Hudson's Bay Company's Fort McLoughlin established here in the 1830s.
