After a quiet night at Quatse River we rose at dawn and drove to the Port Hardy BC ferry landing at Bear Cove. We turned on the generator and made breakfast while parked in the line of waiting traffic. [Vehicles had to show up 2 hours before the 7:30 a.m. departure time.]

Our ferry was MV Northern Adventurer (formerly a Greek vessel, MV Sonia.) This ferry runs alternate days north- and south-bound between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert. This boat replaced the Queen of the North which drove into Gil Island and sank during the night on March 22, 2006.
