We detoured a short way off the highway to the Tutchone village of Klukshu beside the river of that name. We read informative plackards about fish and fish processing, and bought (and ate) bannocks (fried dough) from an elder in the village Gift Shop.

The interesting shapes on these posts are "burls", woody outgrowths sometimes fashioned into bowls, mugs, etc.
